Giving and getting feedback on both language and skills tasks is a crucial phase of any language lesson. In Feedback Fiesta we'll look at different ways of ensuring learners are motivated and receive meaningful feedback - through the use of games, planned error correction and the feedback PERM. Come and join us and make your feedback phases a fiesta, not a siesta! The workshop will be held on: Friday 10th February at 17.30 GMT Monday 13th February at 17.30 GMT To sign up click on the time and date you wish to attend and follow the instructions. The workshop will be led by Neil McMahon, IHWO Coordinator for Resources and a teacher trainer at IH Buenos Aires Teacher Training. Tech needed to attend: A reliable internet connection free of background noise and a mic/headphones headset. Headphones are imperative to avoid feedback for your fellow participants. IH Certificate in Online Tutoring: Course objectivesTo train experienced English Language / Modern Language teachers and trainers in techniques and approaches to online tutoring for language education and to provide them with the skills required to become tutors for student-oriented and teacher-oriented courses on the IH VLE (Platform). To raise awareness of opportunities for skills transfer and the need to acquire new skills in online tutoring as opposed to face to face tutoring. Course contentThe IH COLT course is divided into 6 modules that take place over a 5 to 6 week period. The sessions cover such things as orientation to a VLE, basic tutoring skills, a comparison of face to face and online tutoring. Mode of assessmentThere is no assessed component to this course. However, to receive a Certificate, participants must meet the portfolio requirements as set out in the Course Outline and make regular and relevant contributions to the Discussion Board; please note the tutors will expect quality as well as quantity! LocationThe course is run online and requires regular / daily access to the Internet with a good connection. TutorsThe course is run by qualified online tutors who will guide trainees through the online sessions and assess the portfolio. Time commitmentThis course is designed to be completed within 50 hours (including online and offline work); these are notionally broken down into a 5-phase course (over 4-6 weeks) on the basis of approximately 1-2 hours a day. However, you are under no obligation to visit the course as frequently as this and you may prefer to do more work at weekends rather than on a daily basis - however, please note the group work and deadline points below.
