2012 Workshops
Giving and getting feedback on both language and skills tasks is a crucial phase of any language lesson. In Feedback Fiesta we'll look at different ways of ensuring learners are motivated and receive meaningful feedback - through the use of games, planned error correction and the feedback PERM. Come and join us and make your feedback phases a fiesta, not a siesta!

The workshop will be held on:

Friday 10th February at 17.30 GMT

Monday 13th February at 17.30 GMT

To sign up click on the time and date you wish to attend and follow the instructions.

The workshop will be led by Neil McMahon, IHWO Coordinator for Resources and a teacher trainer at IH Buenos Aires Teacher Training.

Tech needed to attend: A reliable internet connection free of background noise and a mic/headphones headset.

Headphones are imperative to avoid feedback for your fellow participants.

"I learnt loads – particularly useful were tips on classroom management techniques from other teachers to use with students with special needs (and in fact all students!)"

"excellent course notes: succinct, informative, helpful"
"We had great tutors and it was a pleasure to work with them. If I had any questions, our tutors answered them very carefully and in detail."
"I am extremely enthusiastic about this course. I was told that the course was good by a former course participant, but it has surpassed all expectations."
"I just want to say thanks to everyone who took part in creating this course and those involved in doing this particular COLT. I have benefited a lot from it."
"This is a great course that I would recommend to anyone even vaguely intrigued by what online learning is about…or totally adverse to it (I am sure they would change their mind!)"

IHWO Delta 1 Exam Preparation Course:

Course objectives
This course is aimed at teachers in their final stages of preparation for the delta exam. The course aims to review key areas needed to answer the delta examination questions as well as advising candidates on how to answer each question. It provides tasks to help unpack each question and show what constitutes a pass answer. There is also the opportunity to try each task in full.
This IS NOT a preparation course for Delta 1 - this course is for those wishing to brush up before the exam.
Course content
The IH Delta 1 course is made up of eight modules each outlining and addressing what is required for each task in the exam. Each module usually consists of 5 or 6 exercises beginning with some terminology revision followed by a discussion then exploring each question in detail.
Note: the course is predominately self-study with answer keys provided though a tutor is on hand to give you advise and assess task answers.
Mode of assessment
Since this is an exam preparation course there is no formal assessment. Each week candidates are expected to tackle the designated exam task for that week. However as many of the tasks are self-reflective, candidates who wish to will be able to do most of the tasks in a time period convenient for them.
Is this course for you?
This course is aimed at teachers getting ready for the delta one examination.
It is NOT a delta one course. The intended participants are people who have recently done an advanced methodology course such as the IH CAM course or a delta preparation course. This course does not aim to teach the terminology etc that is needed for the exam but review it and guide participants on how to answer the 9 exam tasks.
